A Decade of Upstreamly: Our First Full-Team Offsite in Porto
This year, Upstreamly turns 10 — and we couldn’t think of a better way to mark the milestone than by bringing the entire team together for the very first time.
Over three sun-filled days in Porto, Portugal, team members from all four of our locations met in person — some for the first time — for a company-wide offsite to celebrate the journey so far and shape the future together.
Strategy, Connection, and a Few Sheets of Paper
The offsite blended big-picture thinking with team connection. We reflected on our achievements over the last decade, but we also rolled up our sleeves to focus on the future. Our three-year company strategy was front and centre; discussed, challenged and refined in collaboration with every team member. We explored the role each of us plays in making that vision a reality.
Importantly, we also listened. Several months ago, we ran an anonymous employee survey to gather candid insights across the business. Many of the activities during the offsite were directly inspired by the ideas, feedback and priorities shared in that survey, a reflection of how seriously we take every voice in the team.
There were moments of play too: from bridge-building challenges (a nod to Porto’s iconic Dom Luís I bridge) using just 12 sheets of paper, to discussions on the psychology of client interactions — each activity designed to stretch thinking, deepen trust and spark ideas. We talked about communication: how to listen more actively, communicate more clearly, and serve clients with even greater understanding and care.
Runstreamly: A Personal Tribute
On our final morning, we closed the offsite with something truly special: a celebration of our founder Amir’s achievements, in the form of a 10k team run - affectionately named Runstreamly. True to form, we combined two of Amir’s greatest passions: running and connecting with his team on a personal level.
The course was split into 10 sections, allowing team members to join Amir one by one and share reflections on their personal interactions with him and what Upstreamly means to them. It was an energising, heartfelt moment that captured the very essence of our culture - personal, open, and always moving forward.
More Than Just a Team
And of course, we ate well. Long shared meals across the city’s vibrant restaurants gave space for conversations that rarely happen over MS Teams. The offsite was about strategy and skills, yes, but just as much about building relationships and celebrating what makes Upstreamly, Upstreamly.
Ten years in, we’re more united than ever in our mission to deliver exceptional service with a human touch.
Being able to do that while truly enjoying the people you work with? That’s the kind of success we’re proud to celebrate.
Here’s to the next chapter and to many more moments like this.
